Leave is time off that a member asks for and a manager approves. Members send their requests from the mobile app, and managers answer them in the web app. Days a member regularly can't work, such as every Sunday, are unavailability instead, which is covered under Rostering.
How it works
- An admin turns leave on. Members see nothing about leave in the mobile app until leave requests are turned on in the General settings.
- A member sends a request from their phone. The request appears on the Leave page in the web app as Pending, and every manager who can approve it gets an email.
- A manager approves or declines the request in the web app. The mobile app has no approve or decline button. Once the manager answers, the member gets a push notification and an email with the result.
- The roster shows the leave. The leave appears in the member's roster cell with its leave type, marked PENDING until a manager answers it.
Who does what
Admins turn leave on, set the leave balance unit, and can approve or decline any request.
Managers need Can approve/decline member leave requests to answer requests from members in their department or location. To answer a request from another manager, they need Can approve/decline manager leave requests, and that manager has to choose them as the approver. When a manager requests their own leave, they choose one approver, unless they hold Can approve own leave requests.
Members request leave from the mobile app. If an admin allows it, members can also see their leave balance.
Note: Timble doesn't calculate leave balances. The balances members see come from the leave balance file an admin imports from your payroll system.
